What is Tae kwon do?

Tae Kwon do is the art of self-defence that originated in Korea. When it came to this country it was initially taught to the armed forces as an effective form of unarmed combat, but is now practised by millions worldwide.

Tae Kwon do focuses on using explosive kicking techniques to disable an attacker, but has a variety of powerful hand and blocking techniques for close range defence too.

Following a set syllabus you will be able to master basic techniques, and step by step progress to the more advanced and spectacular kicking and blocking techniques.

Alongside the kicking and punching, practical self-defence is taught, so if you are grabbed by and attacker you should have the confidence and know-how to turn the situation to your advantage.

Not just kicking & punchingÂ…

Tae Kwon do will benefit virtually anyone of any age, size or shape.

Learning to defend yourself is just the start, Tae Kwon do can also make you more confident, flexible and fit, increasing focus, power, inner strength and self discipline.

All Instructors constantly update their knowledge of the art by attending technical courses and seminars, and are fully qualified to teach you, and each club has its own Child Protection policy in place.
